Satoshi Nakamoto is the name used by the person or people who designed Bitcoin and created its original reference implementation. As part of the implementation, they also devised the first blockchain database. In the process they were the first to solve the double-spending problem for digital currency. They were active in the development of Bitcoin up until December 2010. On a P2P Foundation profile, Nakamoto claimed to be a man living in Japan, born on 5 April 1975. Speculation about the true identity of Nakamoto has mostly focused on a number of cryptography and computer science experts of non-Japanese descent, living in the United States and various European countries. Satoshi Nakamoto also created the bitcointalk forum, posted the first message in 2009 under the pseudonym satoshi. In October 2008, Nakamoto published a paper on the cryptography mailing list at metzdowd.com describing the Bitcoin digital currency. It was titled "Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System". In January 2009, Nakamoto released the first Bitcoin software that launched the network and the first units of the Bitcoin cryptocurrency, called Bitcoins. Satoshi Nakamoto released the Version 0.1 of Bitcoin software on Sourceforge on 9 January 2009. Nakamoto claimed that work on the writing of the code began in 2007. The inventor of Bitcoin knew that due to its nature, the core design would have to be able to support a broad range of transaction types. The implemented solution enabled specialized codes and data fields from the start through the use of a predicative script. Nakamoto created a website with the domain name bitcoin.org and continued to collaborate with other developers on the Bitcoin software until mid-2010. Around this time, he handed over control of the source code repository and network alert key to Gavin Andresen, transferred several related domains to various prominent members of the Bitcoin community, and stopped his involveme 1. Blockchain is a revolutionary computer programming technology that was first proposed in 2008 with Satoshi Nakamoto’s white paper on bitcoin. However, its roots go far deeper, as Nakamoto’s white paper actually built on advances and ideas in cryptography and cybersecurity that date all the way back to the early 1990s. Today, blockchain is turning into an Internet phenomenon that is changing how we think of cybersecurity and how data can be safely managed and maintained. This book will give you a detailed, under-the-hood look at how blockchain works. The first chapter will go into detail about the model that most of the Internet is based on, the client-server model, and why it is showing signs of age. The Internet is unable to keep up with the popularity that it has spawned, and it is facing increasing challenges at keeping up with its own demand. Additionally, the centralization of the client-server model makes the information prone to tampering, manipulation, and hacks. The second chapter will look at how blockchain technology provides the answers to many of the problems created by the aging client-server model. The third chapter takes a technical look at how blockchain works, but in a way that is easy for newbies to understand. It looks carefully at what different terms mean and explains them in an easy-to-understand format. It then details how a blockchain transaction works, from beginning to end. By the time you finish listening to this chapter, you will feel confident that any information that you send over a blockchain is safe and will reach its destination in one piece. Blockchain isn’t without its problems, though. The fourth chapter will explore some of the problems that blockchain is facing as it matures and enters the world of mainstream business and finance. These problems include legal issues, environmental issues, scalability issues, and consensus issues. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Mike Wood. A book that challenges common misconceptions about the nature of intelligence. Satoshi Kanazawa's Why Beautiful People Have More Daughters (written with Alan S. Miller) was hailed by the Los Angeles Times as "a rollicking bit of pop Science & Technology that turns the lens of evolutionary psychology on issues of the day." That book answered such burning questions as why women tend to lust after males who already have mates and why newborns look more like Dad than Mom. Now Kanazawa tackles the nature of intelligence: what it is, what it does, what it is good for (if anything). Highly entertaining, smart (dare we say intelligent?), and daringly contrarian, The Intelligence Paradox will provide a deeper understanding of what intelligence is, and what it means for us in our lives. Asks why more intelligent individuals are not better (and are, in fact, often worse) than less intelligent individuals in solving some of the most important problems in life - such as finding a mate, raising children, and making friends Discusses why liberals are more intelligent than conservatives, why atheists are more intelligent than the religious, why more intelligent men value monogamy, why night owls are more intelligent than morning larks, and why homosexuals are more intelligent than heterosexuals Explores how the purpose for which general intelligence evolved - solving evolutionarily novel problems - allows us to explain why intelligent people have the particular values and preferences they have Challenging common misconceptions about the nature of intelligence, this book offers surprising insights into the cutting-edge of Science & Technology at the intersection of evolutionary psychology and intelligence research.PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying reference material will be available in your My Library section along with the audio. 1.
